Matrix Req 3.1 · MCP
Bring your own AI assistant to Matrix Req
Connect Claude, Cursor or any MCP client to your live projects in one step, with your own Matrix login.
For taking a demo with our team.
How it works
Your assistant, on your live data
Use the AI assistant your team already has on your live Matrix Req data, without copying anything out.
Connect in one step
Paste one URL into Claude (web or desktop), Cursor or another MCP client, then sign in with your Matrix account. No API token, nothing to install.
Read your live projects
Browse projects and folders, run full-text and MRQL searches, and read items, documents, comments, reviews, signatures, test runs, attachments and images. It also sees your traceability rules and can consult the Matrix manual.
Read-only by design
It cannot create, edit or link items, and it cannot run the checkers. What it reads stays exactly as it was.
Your permissions, nothing more
The assistant sees exactly what the signed-in user can see in Matrix Req. Removing the user's access stops the connection within a minute.
Built-in or MCP
Two ways in, one source of truth
Complementary, not rivals.
Matrix Mind, built in
Knows what you are looking at, writes through the review screen, and runs the Compliance and Traceability Checkers.
Learn moreYour assistant, through MCP
Suits teams that have standardised on one AI assistant and want Matrix Req inside it.
FAQ
Where does our data go when we use MCP?
To the AI provider you choose, under your own agreement with that provider. Our zero data retention agreements cover the AI features built into Matrix Req, not your own assistant.
Can the assistant change our data?
No. The MCP connection is read-only: it cannot create, edit or link items, and cannot run the checkers.
Which assistants can we connect?
Claude (web or desktop), Cursor, or any MCP-compatible client.
Do we need an API token?
No. You paste one URL and sign in with your Matrix account.
Which version of Matrix Req do we need?
The MCP connection ships with Matrix Req 3.1.
