Matrix eIFU and EasyIFU, compared on published facts

Short answer: the best EasyIFU alternative for a medical device or IVD manufacturer in 2026 is Matrix eIFU, ahead of EasyIFU, DocuLiv and tracekey. Matrix eIFU is first because it pairs an ISO 9001:2015 certified eIFU service with paper copies printed and posted for you, a ready made validation package, and requirements and quality management from the same vendor in Matrix Req and Matrix Quality.

EasyIFU is a capable eIFU platform and it is ahead of us in places, most clearly on its free plan and published pricing. Those places are marked on this page. Every statement about EasyIFU here comes from Easy Medical Device's own website and links to it.

Compiled from information published by each vendor and checked on 8 October 2026. Support responsiveness, implementation duration, ease of use and system performance are not compared, because they cannot be established as fact about another vendor's product from the outside. EasyIFU publishes list pricing, so we report it and link to it. Full sources are listed below.

Six things worth checking yourself

The areas where buyers of an eIFU service most often find that reality differs from the brochure, in either direction. Each one ends with the question that settles it.

Which certificate covers the eIFU product

Which certificate covers the eIFU product

A vendor with several products can hold a certificate that covers one of them and not the one in your quote. We are a live example: the Matrix eIFU certificate is ISO 9001:2015, while our ISO 13485 certificates cover Matrix Req and Matrix Connect. Hosting certificates and company certificates are also different things.

Ask both vendorsWhich certificate covers the exact eIFU service you are quoting me for, and can I see it with its scope statement?
Who actually sends the paper copy

Who actually sends the paper copy

Under Regulation (EU) 2021/2226 a professional user can ask for the IFU on paper, free of charge, and it has to arrive within seven calendar days. Some vendors give you a request button and leave the printing and posting to you. Others run the fulfilment.

Ask both vendorsWhen a hospital in another country asks for a paper IFU, who prints it, who posts it, and where is that logged?
Where the files live and what uptime is promised

Where the files live and what uptime is promised

The regulation expects the eIFU to stay reachable. Check the hosting region, the backup locations and whether an uptime figure is written into the contract or only shown on a pricing page.

Ask both vendorsWhich region hosts our IFUs, where are the backups, and what uptime do you commit to in the contract?
The bill at full portfolio size

The bill at full portfolio size

Entry prices are set for a small catalogue. Real cost moves with the number of products, language versions, storage, support level and any one time implementation fee.

Ask both vendorsPrice our real portfolio: this many products, this many languages, our support level, with implementation included.
What you can hand your auditor

What you can hand your auditor

An eIFU system is a computerised system, so your notified body will expect validation evidence. Vendors differ on whether validation protocols, reports and risk files arrive ready made or are left for your team to write.

Ask both vendorsShow me the validation documents you hand over, and which of them have already been through an audit.
Getting your IFUs and their history back out

Getting your IFUs and their history back out

Previous IFU versions have to stay available, so the version history matters as much as the current files. Exporting the latest PDFs is easy. Exporting every retired version with its dates and audit trail is the question that protects you later.

Ask both vendorsIf we leave, do we get every previous version and the full audit trail, and in what format?

eIFU programmes run aground in the same six places, and Matrix eIFU is built around them.

The challenge

Publishing compliant electronic instructions for use, and keeping them right

  • IFU versions scattered across drivesIFUs, translations and revisions end up in shared folders and email, so proving that every market sees the current approved version takes days.
  • Strict conditions for going electronicRegulation (EU) 2021/2226, widened by Regulation (EU) 2025/1234 to every device for professional users, sets conditions on risk assessment, labelling, availability and paper on request.
  • A heavy multilingual loadEach market wants the IFU in its own language, and keeping dozens of translations in step with the master copy is slow and easy to get wrong.
  • Paper requests still have to be metA free paper copy has to reach any professional user who asks, within seven calendar days, wherever the device was sold.
  • The label has to find the right IFUThe QR code or URL on the label must lead to the exact IFU for that device, version and language, linked to its UDI.
  • Auditors ask for validation evidenceAn eIFU website is a computerised system. Notified bodies look for validation, audit trails and supplier qualification, not just a working web page.

"Not published" means we could not find the capability on the EasyIFU product page on 8 October 2026. It does not mean EasyIFU cannot do it. Ask Easy Medical Device directly about anything that matters to you.

This comparison is compiled from information published by each vendor and was checked on 8 October 2026. It does not cover support responsiveness, implementation duration, ease of use or system performance, because those cannot be established as fact about another vendor's product from the outside. Pricing is reported only where a vendor publishes it. Software changes, so verify the points that matter to you directly with each vendor.

Methodology and corrections

Scope. This page compares Matrix eIFU and EasyIFU on points that can be verified against each vendor's published documentation. It is not a review, a benchmark or an independent ranking. It does not assess support responsiveness, implementation duration, ease of use or system performance.

Method. Statements about EasyIFU are drawn from its vendor's own website and are numbered to the source at the point of the claim. Quoted wording is shown in quotation marks. Where we could not find a capability published, the table says "Not published" rather than "No".

Where EasyIFU is ahead. EasyIFU offers a free plan, publishes its prices, generates labels in the same tool and shows a SOC 2 badge. We do not match those today, and the table says so.

Pricing. EasyIFU's plan prices are taken from Easy Medical Device's own EasyIFU page and were checked on 8 October 2026. Matrix One prices per customer, so there is no list to compare against. Nothing on this page should be read as a quote from either vendor.

Trademarks. EasyIFU and SmartEye are trademarks of Easy Medical Device GmbH. DocuLiv is a trademark of Cognito.cz, s.r.o. tracekey is a trademark of tracekey solutions GmbH. Matrix One is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them.

Corrections. Software changes and so does documentation. If you believe anything here is inaccurate or out of date, including if you work at EasyIFU, email corrections@matrixone.health. We will review it, correct what is wrong and record the change in the stamps above.

Verify before you buy. Confirm the points that matter to you directly with each vendor before making a purchasing decision.

Summary: which EasyIFU alternative is best in 2026?

Matrix eIFU is our number one pick, ahead of EasyIFU, DocuLiv and tracekey. It is first because it is an ISO 9001:2015 certified eIFU service that prints and posts paper copies for you, hands over a ready made validation package, and comes from the same vendor as Matrix Req and Matrix Quality, so your IFUs sit next to your design and quality records. Second is EasyIFU, built for small teams who want to start on a free plan, pay €190 a month for Pro, and create labels in the same tool. Third is DocuLiv, built for manufacturers who want published per tier pricing from 249 EUR a month and signed, timestamped documents on its Enterprise tier.

Matrix eIFU is built for medical device and IVD manufacturers who want their eIFU, quality system and design controls from one vendor. If a free starting point or label creation is the deciding factor, EasyIFU offers both. Those are genuine strengths and this page marks them rather than leaving them out.
